Etymology: First uttered by a Bostonian (ca. 1996).
Function: Just some fashion designer brand name of clothing, perfume, and bottled water that a guy uses for his nickname.
Interests:
CG modeling, texturing, animating, and rendering. Listening to 1960's Bossa Nova music on his MuVo TXFM while writing, drawing, painting, reading, walking, driving. 1950's modern architecture (the International Style). Watching old movies that have great stars and stories. Editing this web site. Of course, this could all change by this afternoon.
Online Forums: CGsociety -- Been banned from there once already. But it is still the best place on the Interweb to learn 3D modeling. Renderosity -- More likeable people. Lots of pedophiles (i.e. cyber child porn creators/buyers) and man-on-man galleries though. Daz3D -- Cheap bastards of all kinds (even more pedophiles). The company does not communicate with users. Lots of Kool-Aid drinking. PlanetAnnihilation -- Not much traffic (recently spammed by porn sites and all, pity that). The Art Door -- Nice people (not much traffic though). TAUniverse -- Everything liberal can be said about this place (you've been warned). ZBrush Central -- More snooty people. Content Paradise -- People that play with Barbie dools all day (they must have it rough). Silo 3D -- Some good artist. Some not so good. Mosty a bunch of lounge-abouts. Some nasty. One of the few 3D modeler sites where the company communicate with users. CGarchitect -- Future builders of the world unite! 3D Allusions -- What's with the snooty people (but still, you can learn from them)? GPGnet -- Mostly Euro-trash anti-Americans visit there. TurboFLOORPLAN -- Just go there for the updates (not much traffic). ArtZone -- Pedophiles to the extreme. Scifi-Meshes -- Lots of copyright violations there. 3DCommune -- Too politically correct to the point of extreme emptyness. Relic -- Great game support. deviantART -- It would be legal if only it were government funded. ConceptArt.org -- Makes art look hard to do (but still cool to look at though). Steve Jackson Games -- An old paper and pencil game called GURPS. Oh, yes. There are 6-sided dice involved. TurboCAD -- Great professional help from the programmers and other professionals. Luxology -- Great software support and great artists. Cornucopia3D -- Less crowded than others.
