First create a new region and give it a name. Your choice is land or water. Pick one for now. Looks pretty boring so far.

Ok. Now press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+R to bring up a secret dialogue box and then choose a GIF file to import. GIF file? A GIF file of what?

Well... A GIF file, exactly 1025 x 1025 in size, that is a 256 grayscale heightmap image of some terrain that you eventually want to build your future cities on.

Then press ENTER.
